Silence Game (Yoga for Children)

Meditation :

A. Open –Day “Meditation”.: Sitting quietly and watching birds, sunrise and sunset, observing animals like squirrels, puppies, calves, etc.
B. Closed Eye “Meditation”: Sitting in a quiet semi-dark room in a clean and wholesome atmosphere and listening to the various sounds and reporting the same to father and mother.
C. Duration of “Meditation”: In beginning the child starts off by sitting for about five minutes and eventually the time can be increased to 15 minutes.
D. Expression : Children should be encouraged to sit calmly with a calm and peaceful expression during meditation.
E. Posture : Children should be encouraged to sit in Padmasan during meditation.
F. Importance of meditation : It would help the children greatly in concentration if parents make them ‘Meditate’ both in the morning and evening. It has been found from previous experience, that children not only concentrate better on academic subjects but even those children who are disturbed of aggressive or full of excess energy do seem to calm if regular meditation is practiced at home.
